Description
SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking API 510/653 Inspector & NDE Technician who are self-motivated and safety-oriented individuals to support our spring 2026 Turn Around in Northern Alberta. SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided in-service pressure vessel inspections predominately to the Oil and Gas industry across western Canada since 2004, and is seeking skilled, experienced, and team-oriented candidates who value quality and integrity.
This position combines API 510/653 vessel and tank inspection with NDE field responsibilities. You will perform inspections, NDE activities, prepare technical reports, and support clients in maintaining safe, compliant equipment across multiple sites in Western Canada.
SHIFT AND LOCATION
- Expected Start: TBA
- Calgary-Based with Field Work in BC, AB & SK

API 510/653 TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct internal and external inspections of pressure vessels and storage tanks in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Interpret inspection and test results and ensure compliance with API, ABSA, and client requirements.
- Execute inspection test plans and NDE activities.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, field notes, and documentation.
- Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend maintenance or repair actions.
- Oversee repairs and alteration activities and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
- Represent SUMMIT professionally with clients, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders.
- Maintain safe work practices and report hazards or unsafe conditions.
NDT TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform UT, MT, and PT in accordance with company procedures.
- Interpret and evaluate NDT results and document findings clearly and accurately.
- Complete field sketches and technical documentation as required.
- Maintain and properly use shared equipment, ensuring care, calibration, and readiness.
- Mentor NDE assistants and support crew development.
- Communicate with clients in a professional, efficient, and solutions focused manner.
- Ensure all work is completed to client satisfaction and in compliance with safety requirements.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid API 510 and API 653 certifications; API 570 considered an asset.
- CGSB UT Level I or II, MT Level II; PT Level II considered an asset.
- ABSA In Service Pressure Vessel (IPV) certification considered an asset.
- Valid safety certifications: H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid, CSO, Confined Space Entry & Rescue, OSSA Fall Protection.
- Elevated Work Platform certification considered an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including moving and operating inspection equipment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre access drug and alcohol test, and to comply with any subsequent testing required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS
- Field work across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, with hours that vary based on client demand and site requirements.
- Combination of office-based reporting and on-site inspection activities.
